NewBook Terms

NewBook (newbook.social) is a relationship-first social networking application operated by XCOR, LLC, a California limited liability company. By creating an account or using NewBook you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility and Account

You must be at least 13 years old to use NewBook. Accounts are created by verifying a phone number via SMS. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your session and for all activity that occurs under your account.

2. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of content you post — text, images, stories, comments, and messages. By submitting content to NewBook you grant XCOR, LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, display, and distribute that content within the NewBook service for as long as it remains posted.

You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, infringing on third-party intellectual property, or that violates any applicable law. XCOR, LLC reserves the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Content Visibility

NewBook uses tiered visibility circles based on Dunbar's model. When you post, you choose who can see it: your inner circle (~2 people), close connections (~12), trusted network (~150), or extended network. Posts and stories default to the tier you select at the time of posting. Stories expire automatically after 24 hours.

4. Groups and Invitations

Group admins may invite people who are not yet NewBook members. Invitees receive an email with a magic link. Accepting that link creates a NewBook account and auto-joins the group. If you receive an invitation you did not want, you may ignore it — the pending record expires and is deleted after 7 days.

5. Financial Connections (Plaid)

NewBook optionally allows you to connect a bank account via Plaid to unlock savings and swap features. Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. NewBook never receives or stores your bank credentials. You may disconnect your bank account at any time from your profile settings.

6. Gmail and Outlook Connections

You may optionally connect your Gmail or Outlook account to help NewBook surface relationships with people you already know. These connections are managed entirely by the Serendipity Network (ConnectionFinder). See the Serendipity Network Terms below, and the Privacy Policy for full details of how that data is handled.

7. AI-Assisted Features

NewBook uses AI models to analyze the sentiment and emotional affect of posts you create. This analysis powers personalized feed ranking and relationship signals. Post content sent for analysis is processed by a third-party AI provider (OpenAI or OpenRouter) and is not used to train general-purpose models. See the Privacy Policy for details.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Impersonate another person or entity
• Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from NewBook without authorization
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Use NewBook to send unsolicited bulk messages or spam
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
• Upload content that contains malware, viruses, or malicious code

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. XCOR, LLC may suspend or terminate your account for material violations of these terms. Upon deletion or termination, your profile, posts, stories, and messages are queued for deletion and removed within 30 days. Some residual data (e.g., references in other users' conversations) may be anonymized rather than deleted.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, XCOR, LLC and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of NewBook. The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

11. Changes

XCOR, LLC may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
